Welcome to Gracelands Nursery School

IMPORTANT: SCHOOL CLOSURE 20.3.2020
Dear Parents and Carers
On Wednesday the Prime Minister made the decision to close all schools in England until further notice due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Gracelands Nursery School will, therefore, close today (Friday 20th March 2020) at 3:15 pm. Where possible however, the Government has asked us to provide places for vulnerable children and those of ‘key-workers’. The list of ‘key workers’ can be accessed at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision
As a federation of 12 schools across south and central Birmingham, we have made the shared decision to temporarily reduce the number of our school sites that are open during this challenging period of time. We hope this will allow us to combine our resources in order to maintain high quality provision for the above categories of children for as long as possible.
Schools may have to prioritise various key workers over others if we do not have capacity and refer families to one of our other school sites. We are operating with a significantly reduced staffing structure due to absence. If your child does qualify for a place, please only bring your child in if it is necessary, to support us in maintaining staff to pupil ratios.
In order to support and keep in touch with those of you that do not meet the criteria for these places, or those of you self-isolating, we will also be providing regular updates via our School website (www.grclands.bham.sch.uk), Facebook and Instagram pages.
We will also be using these pages to share links to online learning resources which can be used to support your child’s learning at home.
Should you have a concern about your child and wish to speak to one of our Designated Senior Leads for Safeguarding (DSL), please call 0121 464 4183.
If your child is currently being supported by our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) and you wish to speak with her, please call 0121 464 4183 .
If you have any safeguarding concerns about a child, please contact Birmingham Children’s Advice and Support Service (CASS) on Tel: (0121) 303 1888.
The situation nationally is changing rapidly and we will of course contact you again should the national guidance regarding schools change in any way.
Thank you for your support during these uncertain times. Please take good care of yourselves and those in your local community.

THE BIRMINGHAM FEDERATION OF MAINTAINED NURSERY SCHOOLS>
We are now part of a federation with 11 other nursery schools in the city. Our aim is to work closely, combine forces and continue to excel in providing excellent nursery education and services for our local communities.
What does this mean?
Our 12 schools will work together to provide quality education and early childhood services. Each school will continue to run locally as they do now, but there will be one executive Governing Body making strategic decisions, with local cluster committees acting for each school. Gracelands Nursery School is clustered with Highfield Nursery School and Adderley Nursery School.
